About Namunyak
Growing a School Around the Needs of Our Community
Namunyak Comprehensive School is a growing private school in Ewuaso Ng'iro, Tannery Area, Narok, offering early years and lower primary education.
Our Story
Namunyak was established to make quality early education more accessible to children in the local community.
For young learners, a school close to home can make it easier to attend regularly and build relationships with teachers and other children.
For some families in pastoralist communities, distance to school, movement in search of pasture and water and access to learning materials can affect regular attendance.
Namunyak aims to provide a stable, welcoming learning environment close to the community, where children can learn, grow and develop with confidence.
Our growing school offers PP1, PP2, Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Why Namunyak Exists
Access
Early years and lower primary learning in Ewuaso Ng'iro, from PP1 to Grade 2.
Continuity
To create a stable learning environment that helps reduce interruptions to a child’s education.
Opportunity
To give every learner strong academic, social and moral foundations for the future.
Our Mission
To provide holistic, affordable and accessible education that empowers children from Maasai land to achieve their full potential academically, socially and morally.
Our Vision
Our vision is to grow as a community school that provides accessible education, individual support and opportunities for children to continue learning as their circumstances change.
How We Learn and Grow
Personal Attention
Our small learner community allows teachers to know children individually and support their progress closely.
Strong Foundations
We focus on literacy, numeracy, communication, confidence and age-appropriate learning.
Character and Discipline
We help learners develop responsibility, respect and positive values alongside academic skills.
Partnership with Families
We believe parents and teachers play complementary roles in helping children learn and thrive.
Programme area
Girl Child Education
Girl Child Education is a distinct programme area at Namunyak, focused on girls’ access to education, continued learning, confidence and equal participation in school life.
The programme aims to work with parents, guardians and the wider community to support regular attendance and girls’ continued learning, while respecting their Maasai cultural identity.
Learning With Respect for Culture
Learning should respect the knowledge, language and values children bring from home. Maasai cultural identity and formal education can support one another.
We aim to work with families and community members so that girls and boys can learn with confidence and remain connected to their culture.
